Headache Pain

It is estimated that 45 million Americans suffer from severe, recurring attacks of migraine and tension headaches. Together they spend upwards of $400 million each year on over-the-counter and prescription drugs as they search for permanent relief.

The National Headache Foundation has recently noted that when taken in excess, analgesics, aspirin, and acetaminophen can create an analgesic rebound effect thereby causing more headaches. The analgesic rebound effect is a type of chemical dependency in which your body gets used to taking a certain medication and begins to produce a headache in order to get an even larger dosage of the painkiller.

It is estimated that 60 to 70 percent of headache patients are victims of analgesic rebound. Combine this with the recent information released pertaining to how the excessive use of acetaminophen can cause liver damage and the question soon becomes "isn't there a better way to get rid of headache pain?"

Yes, there is!

There is a non-drug approach that works for tension headaches and stress-related migraines. That approach is to determine why and where the nervous system is irritated. (In the case of headaches, this irritation usually occurs in the neck and /or the base of the skull.) Reducing the irritation on these nerves can not only relieve headaches but can often permanently correct them.
